Dave Portnoy: Man of the People or Shitcoin Shiller?

We need to talk about David Portnoy.

Disclaimer: i have no knowledge on any legalities or am accusing of anyone of any crimes, so pepper the word “allegedly” through this article to avoid any lawsuits please.

You probably know him as the rad, high noon drinking, skinny jean wearing, pizza tasting frat boy (he’s 50). For his viral video and barstool sports empire he plays many characters. It's sometimes difficult to tell if you're watching real Dave or one of his alter egos. He often plays the role of degenerate gambler, which is precisely what he is...or maybe worse.

For well over a decade Dave has led his "stoolies" in various outrageous events and causes. Many of them are genuinely funny. You know what’s not funny? Shitcoining. You know what even less funny? Encouraging your audience to shitcoin.

And while "Jailstool" saga seems to have cooled off (not much has come from it), I'd be remiss not to quote Superbad and tell Dave... “people don’t forget”.

This era in “crypto” (cringe to even type that) will be remembered for epic rug pulls from influencers all the way up to presidents of nations(i. e. Argentina and Libra). Davey P on camera walked us through how he pumped a coin, spoke about it publicly and then pulled his funds prior to a collapse. This author is mostly retarded, but I think there’s a word for that.

In his defense he did claim it was a “pocket sell” while he was taking a piss. Judge that how you will. This “pocket sell” left many people following his steps shit out of luck when the shit hit the fan. (Do not shit coin)

The most offensive thing about all of this is that he hosted Michael Saylor (gigachad) in his home to explain Bitcoin and then all this nonsense ensued. Chalk it up to it’s a casino or whatever you wanna do. In my humble opinion, it's simply a total Spiderman 3 venom suit moment. People are blindly following influencers like Dave on these coins that do not have any value let alone a white paper (remember those?).

Also, having Saylor over your house to discuss BTC and not heeding his advice is like Sydney Sweeeny coming over your house for a sex ed session but you'd rather play roulette. It simply doesn’t make sense. I think looking back at these “rug pulls” years from now, people's opinion will change on many of these influences (once the price of BTC does what it will do).

Portnoy is worth upwards of $100M and it doesn’t impact him as it does his “degen” audience when coins drop 95%. If he had just listened to Saylor and became a BTC maxi, his audience would have a bright future rather than stress and financial ruin.

Dave doesn’t have to be a role model but the whole small business hero facade seems to be just that. Most of these shit coiners are worse off than a small business owner during lockdowns and that’s saying a lot.

I don’t want to single Dave out but I think if his audience was BTC only, it would help a generation/class of people have much financial stress lifted and a much brighter future.

Again if you engage in shitcoins, “you get what you fucking deserve” to quote the man who killed Robert De Niro in that movie. Try to focus on getting as much as you can of 21M and then rest easy like Thanos after a win. This isn’t financial advice, it is a blog post from a jackass, so take it as you will.

When more people see the light on BTC the entire world will prosper.
